The three sections are, from left to right, through the front of the building nearest East Bay, through the center, and through the part of the building furthest from East Bay. Sorry I don't have a plan ready to show these cuts (I have plans in an earlier post) but I'm still exploring sectional qualities more so than strict accuracy, and the program spaces are shown here in the color massing diagrams. I was most interested in organizing the programmatic spaces at consistent heights with the appropriate structure between them, the flow of open space through the sections, and starting to think about placing elements of skin/enclosure and how the structure would operate there. I've also started making decisions about what is completely transparent, partially transparent, and completely opaque.
... some self critique: I still need to figure out how the structure is working vertically (columns), and both the ground and roof conditions can become more dynamic. I'm still looking for ideas on how to make decisions about how that happens- I have an idea but I think I could use some input also.
Also, the third section through the library/lecture hall lacks the flow of empty space the other two have, and it's looking a little blobby... I think a more carefully articulated roof condition will solve the blobbiness but I'm wondering there's any issues with the internal space I'm not seeing. It makes sense to me because it's my project and I know how it's supposed to be, but the section doesn't read as I'd like it to. I could use some outside eyes.
I'm going to start modeling these ideas tonight regardless of any feedback, I was just hoping for some input in case I need it.
